What is Double Gauze?
Gauze is a fabric similar to cheesecloth, but there the similarity ends. Fine Japanese gauze as used in these Kokka fabrics uses fine threads and is wonderfully soft.
Double gauze is really quite amazing - leave it to the Japanese to come up with this! It is literally two layers of gauze that are attached using a grid of tiny, invisible stitches. The stitches are virtually impossible to detect from the “right” side of the fabric, but you can sometimes see this on the wrong side of the fabric.
What you end up with is a fabric that is very soft & pleasing to touch. Its not see through because of the double layer and if using it in clothes it is an excellent summerweight fabric as it is light & airy.
Dont let that fool you though, it excellent to use in quilts & sewing projects and washes well. It shrinks no differently to regular quilting fabric but may be a bit more "thready" than regular fabric & should be handled less.
